Botanic Garden of NW Michigan Presents
Steppin' In The Garden
A Benefit Concert and Dance
On Friday, June 22nd at 6 pm, local Lansing, Michigan favorites and popular roots music band Steppin' In It, along with Michigan singer-songwriter Rachael Davis, will perform a benefit concert and dance on the funture site of the Botanic Garden of Northwest Michigan at the Historic Barns Park located on the former grounds of the Old State Hospital. The Botanic Garden's largest fundraiser of the year will celebrate the public kick-off of its shared Capital Campaign with the Historic Barns Park. The campaign hopes to raise $1.5 million in community philanthropy to support renovation of the Historic Barns and to establish a permanent Botanic Garden at the Commons.
This benefit concert and dance will include a huge tent and dance floor as well as food, beer and wine from local restaurants, microbreweries and area wineries. Tickets can be purhased at: Oryana Natural Food Market, High Five Threads in the Mercato at the Grand Traverse Commons, and at Twisted Fish Gallery in Elk Rapids as well as on this web site. Tickets for this very important fundraiser are just $35 which includes $10 in food and beverage tickets.

Mike Hughes of the Lansing State Journal wrote, "Rachel's voice and songwriting seem to defy age. One moment, she's a jazz singer, her voice valuting across ranges; the next, she's a folksinger, wizened and weary."
Steppin' In It will provide the dance tunes for the night, with a good mix of original songs, covers of some of your favorites, and traditional old-time music with swing and blues, painting a soundscape that brilliantly updates this resurging American musical genre. With what Performing Songwriter magazine calls "some of the liveliest and most rocking acoustic roots music around."
"This will be a beautiful evening under the stars on some of the most treasured landscape in Traverse City," said Patty Fabian, Marketing Chair for the Botanical Garden Society of Northwest Michigan.
